Sometimes we get caught up in trying to overcome problem areas in our life with little success at actually conquering them. Some challenges just like to stick with us and we end up getting frustrated at even attempting to change them. If the challenge continues to appear we just chalk it up to “there must be something fundamentally wrong with me” and become sad/angry whenever we think about the problem.

Many people often study a subject feeling that they have to know all the ins and outs of it before even trying to go out in the real world and attempt whatever they are learning. Another type of person will just go out in that real world, assuming they should know enough to succeed at whatever skill or action they are attempting and end up continuously falling flat on their face, not progressing in that area...they just keep trying at it without increasing their knowledge on the subject. Both types of people are stuck or make very very slow progress when it comes to these obstacles.

How to fix stubborn challenges
    1. First write down all the challenges or problem areas in your life

    2. After you have this list then write down next to these problem areas your level of progress on them over the past three months

    3. Next to the ones that you have had little or no progress with, write whether you have been predominantly studying them through reading and observing or trying to go out and fix the problem in the field.

    4. After this list is complete next to the ones where you have had little or no progress in, switch to the opposite method of trying to fix the problem.

For example: if you had the problem of getting nervous around people and you have only been trying to fix the challenge by going out and stopping it while it happens as you’re talking to people, then you need to instead read about how to fix the problem effectively before trying to fix it again in the field…you would lookup information on how to become more confident, calm, how to communicate properly with other people or anything to do with the problem itself and how to fix it. If you've been studying something for a while and you've seen little to no progress in fixing the situation then it's time to man-up and actually go out and attempt something in the real world related to the challenge at hand, practice the skill you've been studying.

Note: there is no such thing as complete apathy towards a problem you’re conscious of in your life, you are either trying to fix it by logically attempting to figure it out on the fly or you’re stuck in nerd mode…reading about it all the time.
